Welcome and Greetings of Peace!
Thank you for your interest in the Jerusalem Kindergartens and Day Care Center in the Holy Land. This is a very special school, in a very special place, with a very special mission. We hope that as you learn more, your heart will be moved to support the children and our work to provide a brighter future for them.
The Beginning Through private donations, a new school has been built to provide a modern preschool and kindergarten education to poor and orphaned children in East Jerusalem. The area's children are severely under-served educationally, and there is an enormous need to fill. (Read the research summary.) The good news is that you can hlep do something to substantially change this situation and make a real contribution to the future of peace in the Holy Land, through its children. (Read more about the history of this project.)
The Mission The school was founded to demonstrate to these overlooked children that someone cares about their well-being and their future. This means helping the children's families as well as providing clothes and meals to the children. The curriculum is modern and grounded in principles of peace and tolerance. The teachers create an atmosphere where children of all faiths can be together in a positive, accepting environment. In this way we hope to prepare a new generation to cultivate peace in the Holy Land.
Our Goals While the initial cost of building the kindergarten ($800,000+) has been paid for, the school operates at a monthly deficit because so many of the students can't afford tuition. We are seeking donors to help support the school on a monthly basis to cover operating costs of approximately $26,000. This will free up funds to put towards our next projects. Read on to learn what we hope for the future!
Building for the Future Because the need in East Jerusalem is so great, we are committed to expanding to serve more and more children of all ages who are in need of an education. Another piece of land is now under development for an elementary school for up to 1000 students from first to ninth grade. This will be an 18 classroom facility and we anticipate building costs to be close to $900,000, plus furnishing and supplies. (See the plans and budget for this project.)
Will you join us in helping to expand and give the children from the kindergarten a place to continue their education?
Yes, I want to make a donation!
